About

The mission of the Foundation for Student Success is to support postsecondary institutions to achieve greater student success and reduce equity gaps through comprehensive campus culture-change strategies.

The Foundation for Student Success was founded in 2016 and is housed at the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS) in Boulder, Colorado. Staff at NCHEMS serve as the staff for FSS.

FSS History

  • Founded in 2016.
  • Funded by proceeds from the sale of the non-profit PAR (Predictive Analytics Reporting) to the for-profit Hobsons.
  • Incorporated as a philanthropic, non-profit organization.
  • Administered under contract with the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS).

Reseachers

Sarah Torres Lugo, Researcher, FSS: Sarah’s qualitative and quantitative skills allow her to work on a variety of projects focused on improving strategic decision-making in postsecondary education for states, systems, institutions, and workforce development organizations. Her areas of interest include the connection between postsecondary education and the workforce, quality assurance, and affordability. Sarah holds a master’s degree in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

Stacey Zis, Researcher, FSS: Stacey has a history of leadership and experience in multiple settings including K-12, postsecondary education, and not-for-profit organizations with an ability to see the big picture and work collaboratively toward useful solutions. She has a strong background and solid experience in student affairs and academic affairs administration at various institutions including Springfield College, Roanoke College, Virginia Tech, and San José State University. Stacey holds an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech, a Master of Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Counseling and Student Personnel from Springfield College in Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science in Management from SUNY-Binghamton.
